SHOPPERS joined the crowd in Hereford’s High Town to learn about how not to fall down.

Too many people do and experts set up a stand in the city centre to advise and demonstrate how best to avoid it.

Older people over 65 are most at risk, with one in three falling each year. That could mean about 12,500 people in Herefordshire.

Falls are said to be the biggst cause of accidental death for older people and, for others, can result in injuries that change their lives.

NHS Herefordshire, Age Concern and Help the Aged ran an awareness day event in High Town to alert people to the problem and to show how simple practical measures could help them to remain upright, stay on their feet and reduce the risk of fractures.
