PACK a picnic, lace up your walking boots and put your best foot forward for a day that will cost you very little, but give you an unrivalled taste of the great outdoors and the beauty of the Herefordshire landscape.
If your children are reluctant walkers, the addition of some friends will ensure that their resistance is quickly forgotten.
In Herefordshire alone, there are 15 way-marked circular walks with free leaflets available from Tourist Information Centres and other local outlets, or you can visit the website at herefordshire.gov.uk and follow the links to download details of your chosen walk.
To discover one of the country’s most famous National Trails, visit the Offa’s Dyke Centre in Knighton, half-way along the trail, where you can enjoy an interactive information exhibition before exploring a stretch of the famous Offa’s Dyke for yourself.
Head for Skenfrith, Grosmont or White Castle and take in some history as you walk a section of the Three Castles walk – try Grosmont to Skenfrith for a walk that will take you through woods and fields before coming to the riverside castle in picturesque Skenfrith.
