TARRINGTON BRASS - Did the band adopt the village or did the village adopt the band? Both! After the 10th birthday celebration last weekend the village can say that they are certainly proud; especially after the concert of superlative quality held on Saturday night at the Shire Hall with their new musical director Colin Myles. They were joined by the Hereford Police Male Choir and guest artistes, Becky Griffiths and David Coulson, all friends having long association with Tarrington Brass. At the birthday party, held at the Lady Emily Hall the following afternoon, all the players of the past ten years gathered in a musical communion.

After a short concert and service conducted by their band president, the Rev Peter Hammersley, jelly and icecream were served. Presentations were made to the band members and the official birthday cake was cut.

Tarrington is proud to be the only village in England to have its own anthem, composed by no less a personage than Lt Col Trevor L Sharpe whom Tarrington Brass was privileged to have once had as musical director.
