Stoke Lacy

MORGAN CENTENARY – The Morgan motor car centenary celebrations continue until Saturday. Today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday), the church and churchyard, where the Rev Prebendary H G Morgan was curate and vicar and where the Morgan family grave is located, will be open to the public. The church boasts stained glass windows donated by the family and will be ablaze with Edwardian floral colour.

Moreton Jeffries church, where Harry Morgan’s father began his ministry, will also be open to the public.

At lunchtime today (Thursday), there will be a concert in Moreton Jeffries church and, at lunchtime tomorrow (Friday), there will be a concert in Stoke Lacy church. A walking history tour of the buildings and land most associated with the Morgan family will be available for visitors. The Old Rectory, where the family lived, will be open daily for teas. Wye Valley Brewery will be offering guided tours and an insight into the production of its new Morgan Centenary beer. On Saturday evening, there will be a variety extravaganza in Stoke Lacy Village Hall under the direction of Janet Ivison.

PICNIC – The annual parish picnic will be held in Netherwood on Sunday, immediately after the family service, which will be at 11am. Puddings and refreshments will be provided but bring your own sandwiches. Everyone is welcome.

Venue will switch to the church if the weather is too bad.
