CRICKET CLUB - Presteigne Cricket Club’s annual presentation dinner is at Norton Manor Hotel on September 25.
The music will be the Brutus Roadshow. Tickets are £20 which includes a taxi to and from Presteigne and are available from secretary Tom Ammonds on 07799 268007.
BORDER ARTS - The next meeting of Presteigne and Borders Floral Arts Society is on September 9, at the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. Eileen Gill, on tour from the Isle of Man, will demonstrate “Moments of Delight”.

FUN DAY - There is a fun day at Whitton Community Hall on September 5. There will be loads going on including frog racing, children’s and adult races and a barbecue.
Also at 3pm there is a clay shoot.

WEBSITE - The Presteigne website is now live at presteigne.org.uk. All the administration is done by volunteers making it a not-for-profit project.
CLASSICAL MUSIC - Don’t forget that the Rivoli Quartet will be performing classical music to include Haydn and Dvorak on Bank Holiday Monday at St Michael’s and All Angels’ Church in Lingen from 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and can be reserved on 262896. All proceeds will go to church funds.

CAMEO - The next meeting of Norton Cameo is on September 9 at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Church Street at 2.30pm. This month the postponed talk by Brian Draper on the River Wye will take place. CLASSICAL WEEKEND - There are two concerts at St Michael’s Church in Discoed on September 4 and 5. On the Friday at 7.30pm there will be Buxtehude’s Trio Sonatas for violin and viola. Then on Saturday at 8pm there will be The Classic Oboe featuring Mark Baigent, David Hatcher, Mark Percival and David Lewis. Tickets for each event are £12.50 which will include a glass of wine, available from the Post Office or by calling 01547 560369.
ARTS AND CRAFTS - The monthly arts and crafts fair is on September 5 at the Assembly Rooms where there will be a willow weaving demonstration.

EXHIBITION - The exhibition A Hundred Years of Fashion 1850-1950 is at Lingen Village Hall, 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday and 10am- 4.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday. Also on view will be other vintage textiles, together with the year’s work of Lingen Stitchers and the banner that was displayed in Westminster Abbey at the Festival of Flowers. STUDIO AND GARDENS - There is another oppotunity to see the open studio and gardens at The Bindery, 14 Hereford Street, by kind permission of Chris and Marion Rowlett on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm and Monday from 10am-noon.
RACE NIGHT - You are invited to a grand race night at Presteigne Football Club on September 12 from 7.30pm.
Admission is free and refreshments will be available. You can bet on the races from 50p. Anyone wishing to buy a horse for £5 should do so before the night by calling Doug Preece on 267713.
EXHIBITION - This Saturday, for one week only, there is a selling exhibition of Gaudy Welsh Pottery at Courtyard Antiques in the High Street from 10am-5pm daily. For details call 267033.
GARDENING - Lingen Gardening Club will meet on Tuesday in the village hall at 7.30pm. This month Janet Thomas will talk on seating in the garden.
