ENTERTAINMENT - East Radnor Leisure Centre hosts ‘Frizztastic’ magic, juggling and comedy on August 5 at 2pm. On August 11, come and see the animal man show, getting up close to snakes, frogs, spiders, scorpions and many more from 3-4pm. For more information call 260302.
QUIZ - The Forest Inn at Llanfihangel Nant Melan is holding a quiz on August 12 at 7.30pm. Teams are £2 per person, up to six people. For details call 350526.
OPEN GARDENS - Wimble Gardens and Nursery are opening their gardens at Kinnerton, Thursdays to Sundays, 10.30am-5.30pm on the B4372 New Radnor to Presteigne road.
CHURCH FETE - In Lingen churchyard on Saturday there will be lots to do, from guess the weight of the pig, splat the rat, skittles, frog races, bouncy castle, barbecue, face painting, novelty dog show and lots of stalls to name but a few. Running from 1pm-5pm, admission is £1, for St Michael’s and All Angels’ church.
POETRY - Presteigne and Norton Twinning Association has a poetry competition for 16s and under. A selection of entries will be compiled into a poetry booklet. Entries cost £1 per poem, or £3 for five, with the chance of winning a cash prize. Poems have to be no more than 40 lines and with a French theme.

FETE - Cascob church fete is in the churchyard on Saturday from 2.30pm including bottles, produce, bric-a-brac, raffle, competitions and lots more stalls.
Proceeds go to St Michael’s Church restoration fund.
QUIZ - The Bull pub quiz is tomorrow (Friday) 7.30pm. Teams of four, £1 per person.
CLASSICS - The Classics of Yesteryear host a show at Arkwright Hall, Kinsham, on August 2, of classic cars, commercials, buses, tractors, motor cycles, stationary engines, a barbecue and stalls. Free entry for exhibitors, adult visitors £2 and under- 14s £1. For information, call George on 260110 or Tony on 267579.
CONCERT - A final concert of the Marches oboe school summer course, with John Hymes, is at the Assembly Rooms on Sunday at 3.30pm, costing £5 on the door.
FUN DAY - Norton has a show and fun day on August 15 at Home Farm, Ackhill Lane. There will be a dog show, vintage displays, birds of prey, produce and cookery sections, refreshments, car boot, lots of stalls and children’s football from noon (horse show at 11am). After-show entertainment and barbecue are available at Norton Manor Hotel from 7pm costing £2, kids free, and all proceeds to go to St Andrew’s Church, Norton.
