PLAYGROUND – New Radnor children’s playground held a Party in the Park on Saturday, hopefully the first of many. Children and families from the local area came to eat strawberries and cream, play
and take part in a variety of activities and listen to the village band. Groups and businesses took part. Eunice Rhodes, aged 86, who has lived in the area all her life, opened the event by cutting
the ribbon to the new plaque, set beautifully on a stone plinth by local father and builder Steve Davies, commemorating the donation of the play area to local children.

GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION - Members enjoyed an afternoon at the Vern, Bodenham, courtesy of Brian and Chris Evans. The grounds of 16 acres provided something of inspiration for everyone; lawns
sweeping down to the river, woodland walks, a lake, beautifully maintained herbaceous borders, rose beds, sculptures and a well-stocked, walled kitchen garden. Next month an evening visit to a
garden in Moreton-on-Lugg and one in Marden is planned. No meeting in August but the autumn show is on September 5, followed by Brian Draper’s talk on where to watch wildlife along the River Severn
on Tuesday, September 8. To join, call Peter Mann on 01432 880487.
