COMMUNITY CONCERT - Longtown Community Concert on April 25 was a huge success. The village hall was packed and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of acts. A big thank-you to all who worked so hard to organise this event and to Mrs Ruth Pritchard for her display about the history of the Longtown Eisteddfod. WI - Longtown and District WI has been awarded the Paddy’s Tree Shield at the annual spring council meeting in Hereford by the federation chairman, Angela Southwell. This was for the strong role played by the WI in the local community and for being involved in so many activities. Congratulations to all the members and non-members who support their efforts.

LONGTOWN AND DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY - The first visit will be to Hereford Cathedral on Monday, May 12, meeting in the porch at 2.20pm. A film will be shown about the development plans for the cathedral followed by a guided tour including the chained library. Members are welcome to bring friends.

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT AND BARBECUE - Annual Laurie Engel football tournament and barbecue will take place on May 24, at 2pm. This is a recommended afternoon out and all proceeds will go the Laurie Engel Fund.

MALVERN QUILT SHOW - The Malvern Quilt Show, from May 15 to 18, will feature quilts made by three local ladies from the Longtown area. This is the first time they have made quilts and we wish them well at the show.
