BYGONE AGES FAIR – A bygone ages fair was held behind the Offa’s Dyke Centre in Knighton on Sunday afternoon as part of the town’s Serendipity Festival. Lots of stalls were set up including some doing craft demonstrations. This was officially opened by the Mayor Peter Reynolds when he threw a wet sponge at John Roberts dressed as a wizard. Lots of the stall holders came dressed in bygone ages costume.
GHOST WALK – A good crowd of people accompanied local author Guy Smith around the town for his ghost walk. Using a pendulum he sought out the haunted places around the town.
DOLAU FUN DAY – Dolau fun day was held in Dolau Community Centre and Tanhouse field last weekend. There was plenty to do including fancy dress competitions both on horseback and on foot, show jumping, handy pony competitions, lots of children’s sports, junior football, a dog show, it’s a knockout tug of war and a barbecue. In the hall there was a large flower, produce and craft show and music and dancing to finish off the day.
INDUSTRY DAY – Year 9 pupils at John Beddoes School had a chance to learn new skills and find out more about a variety of different industries and jobs. The event was organised by Careers Wales and started with pupils being asked to design hats for different jobs and give a small talk. Pupils designed hats for a nurse, mechanic, carpenter, hairdresser, policeman, interior designer, sports therapist and others. Each group then had to vote for their favourite. The hat made for the sports therapist won worn by Dan Nowell.
