Hereford Chamber Choir in Cathedral Celebration

The Hereford Chamber Choir, under its new Musical Director Michael Miller, extended its early winter programme in a celebration of The Feast of All Saints at Gloucester Cathedral last Saturday with a Pilgrimage Eucharist with Baptism and Confirmation.

A congregation of over 300 enjoyed Mozart’s Missa Brevis (Spatzen-Messe) and Ave Verum Corpus, William Harris’ ‘Holy is the True Light’ and Charles Wood’s ‘Oculi Omnium’.

Director Michael Miller moved to Herefordshire six years ago, prior to which he had sung for eighteen years with the Collegiate Choir of St Mary’s Warwick. He qualified at The Coventry School of Music as a pianist, singer and composer, and was coach to the Warwickshire Youth Chorale. He has since sung with the Gwent Bach Choir, The Hereford Cathedral Voluntary Choir and others, making guest appearances as tenor soloist. He currently directs the Lucton School Choir and is one of the school’s dedicated singing teachers.

The Hereford Chamber Choir now move on to their Christmas programme, beginning with ‘Carols in Hereford Cathedral Cloisters’ on Wednesday, 3rd December, and a rare rural visit to St Andrew’s , Bredwardine on Wednesday17th December to perform a Christmas Carol Concert, with seasonal works by J.S.Bach, Joubert, Berkeley, Warlock, Howells, Gardner, Darke, Rutter, Walton and Willcocks.
