HOSPICE FUND-RAISING - There will be a coffee morning at the Tea Rooms at 10.30am next Thursday, September 3, in aid of St Michael’s Hospice. There will be a plant stall, cake stall, bringand- buy and raffle. Come and guess the height of the sunflower.

BOWLS - Phil Sharp was in an epic contest, with Robin completing a double by defeating Andy Carter to also take the men’s title. There was however some consolation for Andy who took the pairs title with Alan Rudland, beating Tom Chandler and Jonathon Farndon on the final end. Gill Williams beat Lynda Lynn to take the Ladies’ Rose Bowl, but again, there was consolation for Lynda who played magnificently to win the non-winners’ cup against Neil Powell, who also lost the matchplay trophy to Tony Stokes.

Finally, Joan Stokes made it a family double when she partnered Mavis Tantrum in the Ladies 2 Woods to victory over Carla Biddle and Jayne Sharp. On Thursday evening Eardisland made it seven victories in their last nine matches when they beat Leominster on home soil 85 shots to 63. Pick of the rinks was Gill Williams, who skipped Doug Tantrum, Tom Chandler and Tony Stokes to a convincing 34 shots to 17 win, whilst skips Jonathon Farndon and Phil Sharp also secured comfortable wins.

Categories include handicraft, photography, art, creative writing, wine making, floral art, cookery and a children’s section. Doors open to the public from 2pm onwards.
