PRIMARY SCHOOL – Forest School is an initiative the school has been developing and it has dedicated a site on the common, complete with log circle. The aims of Forest School are to encourage and inspire individuals of any age and ability to grow in self-esteem, self confidence and independence using the outdoor environment for learning; and to promote understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Year five have almost completed six weeks where they have had a range of learning opportunities, from drama through to shelter and den building, whilst observing and identifying nature along the way. Most importantly, the activities have given the pupils an opportunity to develop their teamwork skills and their self confidence in a range of unusual situations.
