BOWLS - Eardisland were in action twice this week, hosting and beating Presteigne on Wednesday before suffering defeat on the Bromyard mat on Saturday. In the first match Tony Stokes’ rink, including Tom Chandler, Neil Powell and Andy Carter, impressed in a 25 shots to 18 victory, with Alan Rudland skipping his rink to a four shot win, whilst Phil Sharp drew. The final shot count of 78 to 68 was greater than probably deserved, with the two sides neck and neck until the last couple of ends. At Bromyard the story of the day was with captain Jonathon Farndon’s rink of Mike Fenn, Pat Roche and Tom Chandler, who having lost the first eight ends fought back magnificently and with a two on the final end salvaged a draw. Phil Sharp’s rink also drew, but with the other two rinks suffering defeats it wasn’t enough and Eardisland went down 69 shots to 50.

TWINNING - On Saturday, at 7.30pm, Eardisland Twinning Association hosts a ceilidh in the village hall. David Rogers will be calling with music provided by the Allaway Family and friends. Tickets priced at £5 are available from Eardisland Tearooms on 388226.
