Parish newsletter: Parish councillors will be sent draft copies for approval as the winter issue will be printed before the next council meeting which will be at the memorial hall on Tuesday, December 2, at 7.15pm.
FILMS OF THE 50s – Amanda Huntley entertained a goodly number in the Memorial Hall last Tuesday with films from the 50s. There was a newsreel and the news was very similar to today: a wet summer and trouble abroad. This was followed by an amateur film of 1958 with the last train from Abergavenny to Merthyr Tidfil. All the films were in black and white, and very entertaining. A cup of tea and piece of homemade cake concluded a pleasant afternoon.
PRIMARY SCHOOL – The present parent governors of the school are Rev Lloyd Rickards, Mr Paul Maslin, Mr Tim Mulhall and Mrs Margaret Young. The school has also secured the services of an excellent new learning mentor, Mrs S Bruten, to support children and families.
Hamper raffle: There will be 27 prizes to be won. Tickets are available from the school office at £1 each. At our Harvest sale we raised £109.63 for the Send a Cow appeal. Thank you everyone for your support. Chocoholics raised £112.85. We are collecting tokens found on the foil or greaseproof covering inside Flora. Please send them into school before the end of term. MOBY, a double decker bus, is currently on loan from Herefordshire Council to create extra facilities for the children.
WALKERS – The walk on Saturday at 9.30am, Fownhope and Capler, will be a distance of about five miles.
PRE-SCHOOL GOLF DAY – This will be on Saturday, and will start with coffee and bacon butties, then 18 holes of golf with buggy followed by an evening meal at the Temple Bar. If you do not play golf you are welcome to the evening meal. Contact Geoff on 07814982433 to book.
