BOOK CLUB – The second meeting of Eardisland Book Club will take place at the Cross Inn on Wednesday, November 12, from 8pm to 9pm.

This is an informal gathering where people can meet to swap, lend or recommend books to each other. Call 01544 388981 or 01544 388317 for further details.

AUCTION – There is to be a dinner and auction of promises on Friday, November 21, at Burton Court in aid of the appeal for St Mary’s Church. There are a few tickets still available and anyone interested should contact Serena Askew on 01544 388637. The tickets are £40 each to include a champagne reception, the auction and a speaker.

WI COFFEE MORNING – Eardisland WI will be holding a Christmas coffee morning in the village hall on Saturday, December 6, from 10.30am to noon. There will be a raffle, books, fresh produce, cards and bring-and-buy. A donation will be given to the St Mary’s Church fund. Contact Mavis Tantrum for further details on 01544 387972.

FLOWER ARRANGING CLASSES – Classes start on Tuesday, November 18, from 10am to noon. The group will be making Christmas decorations. Contact Esther Simpson on 01544 388641 for details.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING – The next parish council meeting will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 7.30pm in the village hall. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

CRICKET CLUB – Eardisland Cricket Club will be holding its AGM this evening (Thursday) at 7.30pm in the village hall.

HALLOWE’EN PARTY – On Saturday, November 1, in the village hall from 5pm to 7pm. Children £2 and adults £3 which includes a pasta supper and tea or coffee. Fancy dress may be worn by both children and adults. See current parish magazine for details or contact Dian Cope on 01544 388317.
