BOWLS – Eardisland gained the narrowest of victories on Thursday night when the club hosted Bodenham, the match going to the final wood before being decided. Phil Powell’s rink had a narrow win, but Phil Sharp’s heavy defeat was compensated by an excellent 11-shot win for Robin Williams, four of Tom Chandler, Phil Milchard and Carla Biddle. The last rink to finish was skip and captain Jonathon Farndon, who won the final end by two shots to see his side win overall by a single shot. The club triples title was decided last Sunday in a match that swung one way and then the other. Jonathon Fardon, Robin Williams and Derek Bray found themselves nine shots down after just two ends to Phil Lynne, Dave Bray and Stan Hall. Despite a fightback they still found themselves four shots down with two ends to play, but a five on the final end secured a narrow three-shot win.
HISTORY GROUP – The Eardiland History and Heritage Society will meet at the Cross Inn next Monday at 7.30pm. New members welcome. Contact Chris Wolland on 01544 388981 or mottecot@aol.com
