FLORAL DEMONSTRATION - On Friday, May 23, there will be a preview of the Eardisland Flower Festival and a floral demonstration in the church by Elizabeth Matheson at 6.30pm, followed by wine and nibbles in the village hall at 7.30pm. The theme of the demonstration is ‘The Pleasure is Mine’. Tickets cost £7 each and are available from Esther Simpson on 01544 388641 or from the tea rooms.

CHURCH FLOWERS - Pat Roche (01544 388492), who organises the church flowers, would like to hear from anyone who would like to join the group which regularly decorates the church.

FUN DAY - The village fun day will be held on the recreation ground on Saturday, July 17. Entrance to the event will be free and there will be a fancy dress competition for children. Tug-o-war teams are required to challenge the current team from the Cross Inn. Spaces are available for anyone who would like to run a stall. Further details are available from Margaret Milchard on 01544 388097 or margaretmilchard@btinternet.com BOWLS - It has been a fast and furious start for Eardisland with mixed results. On Sunday they travelled the short distance to Kingsland where they suffered a sound defeat. Jonathon Farndon, captaining the side for the first time, skipped his rink of John Moses, Phil Lynn and Derek Bray, to a narrow victory for the visitors’ only success. Fortunes did not improve on Wednesday when Eardisland tasted defeat for the second time when they visited Presteigne, going down on all four rinks to a strong and experienced home side. The following night, Eardisland hosted St Martins and finally hit top form with a 85-47 victory, with Phil Sharp, Phil Powell and Dave Bray skipping their rinks to resounding victories. New members are still welcome to attend club nights, held every Tuesday at 6.30pm. For details, call Phil Milchard on 01544 388097.

VILLAGE SHOW – Schedules for this year’s village show are now available for people wishing to plant out their horticultural entries from the church or the tea rooms. Call Gill Richards on 01544 388323 or Diane Wolland on 01544 388981, dwolland@googlemail.com, for details. The show will take place on Saturday, September 13.
