PRIMARY SCHOOL – The recent fundraising event for Barnardo’s raised £537.93, well done everyone! There will be a drop-in day to discuss class arrangements from 9am today (Thursday), followed by a rounders tournament at 3.30pm. KS1 multi-skills festival is on Tuesday, June 10, from 10am. Don’t forget the walking bus on Wednesday, June 11, at 8.30pm from the Memorial Hall, and Class 5 will also be having a media workshop on that day. The summer fete is on Saturday, June 14, from 3pm, all welcome.

CHURCH – On Friday, June 13, at 7pm there will be a concert in St Mary Magdalene Church which has been arranged by the church, in conjunction with Eardisley Primary School to raise funds to support Mrs Mealand, a teacher at the school, who is travelling to Tanzania with a party of teachers to forge links with schools. The concert will have an African theme, and tickets can be obtained at the school office.

FLOWER FESTIVAL – The recent flower festival at St Mary’s Church was a great success despite very disappointing weather over the entire weekend. The festival organiser, Mrs Esther Simpson, is pleased to announce that the church funds raised were in excess of £1,300. Esther would like to thank both exhibitors and visitors for making the event so enjoyable and worthwhile. CAR BOOT SALE – a sale in aid of village hall funds will be held on Saturday on the recreation ground behind the village hall. Booters, noon, members of the public from 1pm onwards. The cost will be £5 per boot. This brings the total donated to more than £3,000 in two years. The money has been raised by a weekly competition to guess the bonus ball on the National Lottery and a monthly quiz held in the pub. Nibbles and prizes are donated on quiz nights by Jan and Richard allowing the whole of the quiz fees to go to the Air Ambulance. A giant whisky bottle from the bar has been filled and sent to the same charity. The next quiz night is this evening (Thursday), starting at 9pm.
