3:12pm Thursday 13th November 2008
AFTER our welcome and Jerusalem, our President, Mrs Janet Potter, opened our meeting. The last meeting’s minutes were read, approved and signed.
Janet gave us the news about our ex-President, Mrs Margaret Watson, who has had a fall and broken her hip and also has some eye problem and now cannot drive. We all signed a card to be sent to Margaret.
We have sent £100 to WI House. On November 10 we will be having a Christmas pudding stir-up, so bring along your bowls to the village hall to be filled up. There was a good response towards the Christmas boxes. We filled 24 boxes in total. Our November meeting will start at 2pm. On January 12, 2009, we will have our WI lunch at the village hall with outside caterers. We read and discussed various items in the WI News.
With business finished, our President introduced our speaker, Mrs Jill Suttle, who gave a very interesting talk with lovely slides about her journey of two months on horseback through Syria: from Damascus, through desert, past agriculture, over mountain and villages, down to the coast and back to Damascus.
After our refreshments the President closed the meeting.
