INTERESTED in honeybees? This could be just for you – Herefordshire Beekeepers’ Association is hosting a free workshop on various aspects of beekeeping together with demonstrations of associated beeswax crafts, including candle and polish making. Weather permitting, there will be a couple of occupied hives so you will be shown the inside of a real colony of working bees and join the search for the queen! Spare bee suits are available, but wear long trousers and bring Marigold or latex gloves. Existing beekeepers: come along and discuss the recent threats to honeybee colonies and find out about current techniques of disease and pest control. Farmers: do you grow rape, top fruit, beans or clover? Learn more about your important hidden workforce and how to safeguard their wellbeing. Everyone is welcome, there will be something of interest to all the family. We aim to give beginners and anyone who thinks they might like to take up beekeeping a chance to find out more and get some hands-on experience. Come along to Brockhampton Village Hall, HR1 4SE, near Fownhope off the B4224 , Mordiford to Ross/Upton Bishop Road, on Saturday between 11am and 4pm. Details from Colin Pavey on 01989 740249.
