CLAY PIGEON SHOOT - Dorstone playing field committee will be holding the annual clay pigeon shoot on Bank Holiday Monday, starting at 2pm in a field off the back road from Dorstone to Peterchurch.

Dewsall - Every bear was gathered

A teddy bear picnic service was held by St Michael's Church, Dewsall, on Sunday, in the garden of Dewsall Court. A simple service led by Iori Price and Matthew Gacek was followed by a picnic.

MONEY RAISED - A local charity has had its funds boosted following a 140- mile ride across the country by three intrepid local cyclists. Pete Newman and Andrew Winterbotham from Dymock, and Steve Wood from Bromsberrow Heath, completed the four-day ride to raise money for the Tom Roberts Adventure Centre in Newent. The journey took them from Sunderland, over the Northumberland moors, across the Lake District to the finish in Workington. The hardest day was the 65-mile slog across the moors over 11 hours. More than £200 was raised which will help develop social and recreational activities at the centre for use by the local community.

ST Michael’s Church in Dewsall took advantage of the warm weekend weather to hold a teddy bears’ picnic in the impressive gardens at Dewsall Court.

DYF – Dilwyn Young Farmers’ 60th birthday celebrations, held at Alton Court by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Stuart Wellings and family, proved to be a fantastic success. 360 guests attended the anniversary dinner dance and enjoyed sumptuous food supplied by Sisters Catering, followed by dancing to live band Steady Eddy and the Boogie Men. The Diamonds and DJs black tie ball the following evening was attended by 250 young people with the weekend culminating with Sunday’s picnic to music from local live band Wyldin, in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.

PARISH FREIGHTER – The freighter will be at the car park adjacent to DFR from 11am to 1pm on Saturday. Nonhazardous, non-trade waste from parishioners can be deposited in the vehicle. Also, furniture that can be recycled will be received.
