AFFORDABLE HOUSING – The affordable housing consultation day will be held in the Village Centre on Thursday, October 2, from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. Anyone with views and opinions on affordable housing in the parish is invited to attend, as is any local resident who may need to be housed or re-housed in the near future. Herefordshire Council representatives will be on hand to explain the system and to register interests.

MERBACH COMMONS SEPTEMBER WORK DAY – Special invitation! This month’s Merbach Work Day will be held next Monday. We will continue to build the steps on a steep and slippery section of the path that leads up through the woodland in the north-eastern corner of the common. We will be meeting at 10am at the entrance gate to the common next to Pendle Cottage (formerly Hicockolorum). If you would like any further directions please call Tim Breakwell on 01432 853205. No previous experience is required as training in the use of tools will be given and you can work as hard or as little as you like! Please wear stout footwear and bring waterproofs in case of wet weather. A packed lunch and plenty to drink is recommended.

FAMILY SERVICE – The next family service will be on Sunday when the congregation will walk the Batch and take part in a treasure hunt as they go along. They will then proceed to the Quaker Meeting House. Harvest Festival will be on Friday, October 3, at 7pm.

Fungus Foray on Merbach Hill Common, Bredwardine

As part of the Community Commons Project, Sheila Spence, a local field mycologist, is coming to Merbach Hill Common to lead a Fungus Foray on Monday, October 6th at 10 am. Sheila will describe the ecology and life-cycle of British fungi and will lead a walk to discover which species of fungi can be found on the common at this time of year.
