LORD NELSON INN – The signs are already up on the roadside advising that the pub will become an antiques centre. A change of use has been officially granted by Herefordshire planning which was supported by the parish council.
PARISH COUNCIL – The parish council objected to the planning application to put a large industrial building on land to the north of the Clovers in Bishopstone. The planning application to improve the roof on the Lodge at Bishopstone has been passed by Herefordshire Planning and the parish council accepted the improved access to St Andrew’s Church at Bridge Sollers. The parish council has arranged for the village freighter to visit Bishopstone and Byford in the early part of next year. A new noticeboard has been purchased for the community in Byford Common and new nameboards have been purchased for the noticeboards at Kenchester, Bridge Sollers, Byford and Mansell Gamage. It was a unanimous decision to thank a Bishopstone resident for having cleaned the glass on the noticeboard in Bishopstone for many years and to have arranged for it to be painted at no cost to the parish council. English Heritage rejected the request to have the Bishopstone telephone kiosk turned into an historic building because it did not stand near to any other historic building. A letter from Brightwells Ltd acting for E & J Price at Oakchurch Farm was discussed when the parish council was advised of future planning applications to put polytunnels in fields near the crossroads in Bishopstone and fields leading down to Bishopstone Church. There will be a public meeting in May 2009 with a guest speaker. A litter picking day will be organised early next year by the parish councillors in Bishopstone.
VILLAGE LOTTERY – This week with their number 49, Ian and Hilary Robinson won £25.
