PARISH COUNCIL MEETING – The meeting was addressed by Peter Yates, planning policy manager for Herefordshire Council. The government wishes local planning to be more simple and to make public involvement more meaningful. The government has decreed that at least 16,600 houses have to be built in Herefordshire before 2026 and that half of them should be in Hereford itself and the other half in rural areas. Herefordshire’s Cabinet councillors have stated that with any new housing should come the infrastructures. Allied to that infrastructure is retail and employment growth.

The precept has been set at £6,250.

The cost of the fireworks has risen to £250 this year. Thanks go to Evans Farm Supplies which supplied sparklers and to Mr and Mrs Newcomb for supplying and cooking the hot food. Grateful thanks are also due to the Parochial Church Council and Rev Rob North for hosting and co-ordinating the event.

The Lengthsman will be asked to clear gullies and drains in Breinton Lane, Breinton Common and Green Lane and to remove graffiti on road signs.

Councillor Matthews gave an update on the situation at Banbh Farm: that court proceedings will commence in January if the rubble has not been removed. Also if hedge planting has not been completed by a short deadline, then the council will undertake the work, sending the bill to the landowner. Members had no objections to alterations to Wyevale Cottage off Veldifer Lane. However, concerns were expressed about the proposed system to remove storm water from the barn development at Warham Court Farm. The next meeting of the parish council is on Wednesday, December 10, at 7.30pm in the village hall.
