VILLAGE FETE – The village hall committee is holding a village fete on Soearmarsh Common and around the village hall on Sunday, August 31, at 2.30pm. There will be a green stall, bottle stall, book stall, plant stall and cake stall. There will also be fortune telling, a barbecue and lots of games. Car booters will be very welcome. The charge to book a pitch is £5. Please contact Sandra Payne for further details regarding booking on 01544 340645. Please support this fundraising event which will help to keep the much-used hall running.
PARISH COUNCIL – At the annual meeting of Almeley Parish Council, Claire Price was nominated to continue as chairman, Walter Edwards as vice-chairman and Jean Jones to be the parish council representative on the village hall committee. The chairman and vice-chairman were elected to represent the parish council on the Herefordshire Council of Local Councils. SOCIAL CLUB – Almeley Social Club had a very enjoyable visit to Abbey Cwm Hir, near Crossgates on Wednesday, August 6. The next outing will be a Wye Valley cruise on September 8, from Symonds Yat. The last day for booking is Saturday, August 30.
