MERBACH COMMONS MAY 2008 WORK DAY - The next volunteer work day on the Merbach Common is due to take place on Wednesday, May 21. We will continue to make steps on the public footpath that runs up through the woodland in the north-eastern corner of the common. Plan to meet at 10am at the entrance gate to the common next to Pendle Cottage (formerly Hicockolorum). Everyone is welcome to come along. No previous experience is required as training in the use of tools will be given, and you can work as hard or as little as you like! Please wear stout footwear and bring waterproofs. VICTORIAN FAIR AND PICNIC - The Victorian fair and picnic is on Sunday, June 8, from 2pm to 6pm in the beautiful gardens of Brobury House on the edge of the River Wye. The Victorian attractions will include period dress, gypsy dancing, fortune telling and more. Admission is £3 for adults, £1 for children. All proceeds in aid of St Andrew's Church and Bredwardine and Brobury Village Hall. OPEN GARDENS - The sun shone brightly for the Brilley Court open garden on Saturday, May 3. People came from far and near to enjoy one of the first true days of summer in the beautiful setting of Brilley Court. The plant, books and tea stalls all did a roaring trade, and at the end of the day we had raised just over £1,700 towards the Brilley village green fund. Many thanks to all the helpers and visitors. Particular thanks to Mr and Mrs D Bulmer for opening their magnificent gardens for us.

CWMMAU FARMHOUSE OPEN DAY - The Brilley village green fundraising group will be serving delicious teas at the open day of the National Trust’s Cwmmau farmhouse on Sunday. This is a good opportunity to look around this superb, timbered, early 17th century farmhouse and support the Brilley village green fund as well. Plant and cake stalls. Open from 2pm to 5pm. National Trust admission: £3.80, child £1.90, family £9.50.
