ANNUAL MEETING - This annual event takes place today (Thursday) in The Portway Inn Hotel, Staunton, starting at 7.30pm, when parish councillors elect their chairman and vice-chairman for the next year.

VILLAGE LOTTERY - The winner of £25 is Pat Astley with her number 37.

PARISH COUNCIL - Following the annual meeting (above), the parish council will have a presentation given by The British Red Cross about their new village warden scheme. All village noticeboards display a leaflet about this scheme. The business for this meeting includes approving the end-of-year accounts, and the external audit report. They will consider a planning application for a proposed carport for two cars at The Old School House in Byford. Other items on the agenda include considering the possibility of twinning with a European village, finding a covered, dry place to store sandbags in both Mansell Gamage and Bishopstone, and finally to decide if they want to go on-line with the parish accounts. MANSELL GAMAGE - Drive with care through this village because the new village name signs have been erected and they include a speed limit of 30mph. The speed restriction will come into force shortly, and when it does the police will be monitoring motorists.

BISHY BOYS - These ‘young’ men have been busy since the start of the year repairing, modifying and painting their two soap-box racing machines in readiness for the Mansell Lacy soap box derby on Sunday, June 8. BRIDGE SOLLERS BONUS BALL - Andrew Pearce won £25 with his number 37.
