VILLAGE HALL – Some committee members have been working hard in the village hall over the past few weeks, stripping the wooden floor and re-treating it. The results of their efforts will be on display with the start of the autumn and winter programme of events.

DANCE – The popular local group Late in the Day will provide the music for a dance to be held in the village hall tomorrow (Friday). Start time is 8pm and there will be a licensed bar, refreshments and a prize draw. Entrance is £5.

FASHION SHOW – This will be held on Thursday, September 11, in aid of the village hall roof fund at the Edinburgh Woollen Mill, 35 Bull Ring, Ludlow, at 7.30pm. Tickets at £5 (which includes a glass of wine) are available at Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Ludlow, or can be reserved for collection on the door on the night by calling 01568 770662 or 01568 709031. Visitors attending will be able to get 20% off any item of clothing purchased on the night.

FUN QUIZ NIGHT – Friday, September 12. Teams of up to four people at £5 per team. Start time 8pm. There will be a prize draw and refreshments will be available.

SING OUT! 3 – Local poet, Tony Walton, is organising a musical evening, Sing Out! 3, in Aymestrey Village Hall on Saturday at 8pm. This time Tony is organising the evening to raise funds for the Tibet Relief Fund. Topping the bill will be Presteigne folk-singer and guitarist, Benji Kirkpatrick. Tickets at £8 (concessions £6) can be reserved on 01568 770177.

WI – The next monthly meeting will be held next Tuesday at 7.15pm and will be arranged by the members who are each asked to bring a plate of food. The competition will be for the biggest sunflower.

KINGSLAND GROUP MEETING – This will be on Tuesday, September 23, at 8pm at Stony Oak, 7 Bury Park, Wigmore, when plans for next month’s autumn show will be finalised.

H-ART – Local artist, Bronte Woodruff, is again taking part in the fifth open studio for h.Art at Marsh Cottage, Yatton, near Aymestrey and Wigmore from Saturday, September 13, to Sunday, September 21 from 10.30am to 5.30pm (except Saturday, September 20, until 9pm with a poetry reading by Bronte’s husband, Tony Walton, at 7pm). Children are welcome and there will be refreshments.
