ENVIRONMENT, ENERGY & GREEN CONVENTION – On Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm each day, there will be a local environment and energy fair and green convention at Newhouse Farm, Almeley. Present will be local ecogroups, talks and stalls and the opportunity to look around the countryside project, two wooden houses with sustainable energy supplies. Come along and find out about this subject. Information on 01544 327849.

WI – There will be an open meeting on Thursday, September 18, at 8pm in the Almeley Village Hall, when Stephen Lloyd will be speaking on the subject of seed propagation. Visitors are welcome, and there will be a charge of £3 which will include refreshments.

BELL RINGING – A quarter peal of half-muffled doubles methods was rung before the Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the life of Mrs Dorothy Brown, who had been an Almeley resident for over 30 years. FLICKS IN THE STICKS – The first film of the new season will be The Bucket List starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The show starts at 7.30pm. Entrance is £3.50.
