ALL OF A SPIN- Marion Willcocks has opened the doors to her studio at the Old Forge to encourage passers by to pop in for a tea or coffee and chat, to view her art work, and see her spinning and weaving local wool. Sketching in watercolour and painting with pastels and oils, Marion’s inspiration is colour and nature. Marion, who was a member of the Eden Valley Spinners for six years before recently moving to Dilwyn, weaves Highland tweeds into lengths for jackets and stoles. Marion would like to encourage people to use local wool and will teach anyone interested in the art of weaving at her Spinning Group on Monday mornings from 10.00-12 noon. The Gallery and tea room is open Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm excluding Tuesdays and on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm.<> ST. MARY’S CHURCH-For several years, St. Mary’s, Dilwyn has supported Hamlyn Fistula UK, originally set up to support the pioneering work of the husband and wife surgical team, Catherine and Reginald Hamlyn, in Ethiopa. At this service, the speaker will be Malcolm Hewitt, a Trustee of the fund and already well-known in Dilwyn for his erudition and humour. Where appropriate, donations can be gift-aided to maximise the effect. If you are unable to attend the service but would like to make a donation, gift-aid envelopes may be obtained from John Gerrish on 01544 318633.<> SPONSORED RIDE AND STRIDE-This annual event is organized by Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust to raise money for restoration work on churches.
