THE livestock entries for Kington show are closing soon.

With the sun shining at last perhaps farmers can start thinking about entering the show which takes place on Saturday September 8 at The Ovals Farm.

Entries will close on August 14 for horses, cattle, sheep and poultry catergories.

Secretary Clare Edwards said: “Last year was a huge success with more than 900 animals entered, including more than 130 pedigree Hereford cattle.

“Trade stand spaces have been selling like hot cakes, particularly as so many other shows have cancelled. The food and craft marquee is now full and we are unable to take any more applications for indoors. However, there is still space outside and with the weather perking up, hopefully there will be no need for cover.

We will be booking on a first come, first served basis.”

Visit kingtonshow.co.uk for schedules and to download a trade stand application form.

Meanwhile, Kington Show will be fund-raising on August 13, by permission of the Sankey family, at Downfield, Kington.

A hands-on quiz will take place at 7pm where teams and individuals can wander and solve 10 rounds with plenty of fun along the way.

Rounds will be on a variety of topics from livestock, horticulture, dogs, unusual items and much more. There will be prizes to the winner of each round.

Cost is £5 per person with a bar and food available. For tickets, call Nick Layton on 01544 340243 or 07712 554357.
