A RURAL primary school has gone back to its roots to show the children a little of what country life has so nearly lost.

Brockhampton Primary School calls it a Celebration of Rural Creativity, bringing hundreds of years of crafts that shaped the county to a new generation.

Headteacher Matthew Land said the programme was designed to engage and motivate a genuine enthusiasm for “a traditional way of life that is slowly disappearing from our counties”.

Brockhampton – nestling in the shadow of Bromyard Downs – already has nature at the heart of its curriculum.

The rural creativity day brought skills as diverse as basket weaving to working horse teams into school.
