Advice about farm opening from Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF)

1:50pm Thursday 4th March 2010

IF YOU are interested in opening your farm to the public on Open Farm Sunday this summer, then Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) is there to help you.

LEAF is holding a series of workshops across Britain to give farmers lessons on how to do it and the one for Herefordshire will take place on Tuesday, March 9.

It is at the farm of Patrick Wrixon at Devereux Wootton, Norton Canon, and LEAF advisers will be there with him to explain the ‘whys and wherefores’ to potential hosts.

They will discuss how to get started, health and safety implications, how to recruit volunteers to help, what sort of activities are best for individual farms and how educational projects can be included to interest children.

To attend the workshop or find out more about the scheme, visit farmsunday/org, phone LEAF on 02476 413911 or email pauline.

Open Farm Sunday is on June 13.
