It seems that British farming is back in fashion. A slick and modern photo shoot for Waitrose Food Illustrated throws the spotlight on young farmers who are emerging as the new force in British agriculture.

Quashing the “wax jacket and wellies” stereotype, the publication talks to seven savvy young farmers whose smart approach to agriculture is helping them to forge burgeoning businesses.

Ben Andrews, aged 26, farmer and marketing manager for organic dairy company The Dairy House in Weobley, Herefordshire, said: “Many older farmers are set in their ways.

“They might have been great farmers but they’re not necessarily great businessmen. To make money and make the most of farming, you’ve got to be clever with it.” The September issue is on sale now.
