Kington Show is looking to break more records this year says show secretary, Clare Edwards.

“Last year records tumbled with brilliant weather and a record number of exhibitors. This year’s show on September 13 will look to set more records,” she said.

Schedules are now available, and new for this year will be Pony Club classes.

There are 17 different horse sections, including unaffiliated ridden hunters, in-hand hunters, affiliated children’s ridden show pony (including open first ridden and leading rein), affiliated mountain and moorland, Registered Welsh Ponies, Section A-D, Shire horses and, due to the successful class last year, the society is continuing with coloured ponies and working hunter pony classes. Both will be unaffiliated, so will be open for everyone to enter, with four classes, from under 13hh to over 15hh.

The driving classes will again be in the main ring with a commercial class to include any commercial vehicle which can derive an income. Entries for this can now be anything from a hearse, wedding carriage or farm machinery being driven by horses.

The private drive, show drive and pleasure driving classes remain unchanged, except for the show drive class not being compulsory.

Also new for 2008 will be classes for Berrichon and Badger Faced in the sheep section.

Included in the cattle classes are pedigree Herefords and British Belgian Blues and ‘any other beef breed’ and commercial cattle.

Due to the successful introduction of live poultry last year, classes will continue.

Bluetongue zones may change and the society asks all exhib-itors to enter as soon as possible. Entries must be received before the closing date of August 19.
