LUDLOW MARKET McCartneys report a combination of bluetongue alterations as regards protection and surveillance zones, continued TB restrictions and a fine morning with many vendors making hay or cutting silage resulting in the an entry of 262 cattle, the smallest for some time, at Ludlow Market on Monday.
Having said that plenty of buyers in attendance and no where near enough cattle for those that were there to do business. Prices wouldn't be back at all despite the drop in deadweight returns. Just because deadweight prices come back do ours automatically follow? Did we have a good trade last week? Were these prices much better than deadweight prices?

A good entry of 2,500 quality lambs selling to a good trade, which had remained stable over the previous days. The lambs were in good demand by the export and home buyers for all weight ranges.

After the sale John Amos said: “Again the strength of auctions has been confirmed with a number of lots changing hands on the evening.
“Smaller blocks of land continue to attract a premium with great interest. Residential properties are, as the market indicates, more difficult to complete, but with vendors’ realistic expectations, these lots are also finding new owners.”
