Two on-farm demonstrations on the design and construction of biobeds are being held on the mornings of July 23 and 24 at Gillow Farm, Harewood End, and The Ox House, Shobdon respectively.
The demonstrations are being funded as part of the England Catchment Sensitive Farming Delivery Initiative (ECSFDI).
Bill Basford, ADAS specialist together with local agronomist John Davies will each talk at the events.
The demonstrations will look at how biobeds have been constructed on farm sand how they are used to dispose of non-hazardous pesticide washings. They will be very practical and will include items on the safe use of pesticides, including sprayer filling, wash down areas and the disposal of pesticide containers. Construction of several biobeds within the catchment sensitive farming Priority areas have been funded via the ECSFDI Grant scheme and these should be available again next year when the grant scheme opens again.
If farmers are keen to find out more about how to get a grant they are welcome to attend the demonstration.
Farmers are urged to book a place, call either the booking line 0845 6023 864 or catchment officers Saran Onley 07920 757516 or Ioan Williams 07795 506874.
