A teenager from the Golden Valley in Herefordshire has started a bid to change the way people buy pork.
Emma Cianchi is holding an open day in Preston-on-Wye this weekend to raise awareness of British rare breed pigs.
Emma, aged 15, has looked after several rare breeds for more than a year, when she received a handful for her 14th birthday. But, despite having no farming experience, she now counts more than 20 pigs and piglets as her own.
This Saturday’s open day aims to highlight the dwindling numbers of rare breeds, and the conditions they and other pigs endure.
Five varieties will be on show, while cooking demonstrations, tractor rides and food and drink will be available.
The event starts at 3pm at the village hall, and aims to raise funds for the Heartlung Transplant Fund.
