Breeding ewes - 1650: Another excellent quality entry of mostly yearling ewes with a good selection of 2 year olds and older. Texels topped the day at £150 for pure bred yearlings with strong Texel cross yearlings selling from £120 to £145. A few ewe lambs on offer, however these found steady demand. Ewe lambs needed to be very strong although these were hard work. Suffolk cross Mules to £84, Texel cross Mules to £80, Welsh Mules to £78. Overall average - £60.11.

Cull ewes - 1467: An excellent entry of ewes especially considering it is the day after the festival, but nevertheless the trade was surprisingly better than we ever expected with those best meated types in plenty of demand, selling up to £119/head for Texels and those strong Suffolks up to £93.50/head. The hardest selling was the really lean Speckle and Welsh ewes - £25 to £45/head. Again numbers will dictate the trade especially on the plainer sorts. We had 10 ewe buyers in attendance ensuring a buoyant trade throughout and more could have been sold without detriment.
