The spring lamb numbers are starting to come now. Overall trade averaged 198.80 pence per kilo selling to 201 pence per kilo for 42 kilo Suffolk cross lambs to £84.50 per head from E R Roberts and Son, Racecourse. Also to 200 pence per kilo for 41.5 kilo Texel cross lambs to £83 per head from G Roberts and Son, Purlogue, 38.5 kilo Texel cross lambs to £77 per head from H E and E K Williams, The Park and 46 kilo Texel cross lambs to £91.80 per head from S J C Morris and Sons, Whitcott Evan.

Top price per head was £96 per head for 49 kilo Suffolk cross lambs from A S L and D J Lewis, Fronglanllwydd.

Prime hoggets averaged 155.55 pence per kilo and sold to 194 pence per kilo for 32 kilo Texel cross hoggets to £62 per head from P Wakeman, Lower Goitre.

Cull ewes remain a firm trade averaging £63.09 per head and selling to £95.50 per head for Texel cross ewes from C M Stephens and Partners, The Cote. Also to £91.50 per head for Texel cross ewes from J E and D J Morris, Upper Dolwilkin. £88.50 per head for Texel cross ewes from D J P Lewis, Treforgan. £86 per head for Suffolk cross ewes from A J and J A Powell, The Grove. £82 per head for Suffolk cross ewes from V, M and J Grubb, New House. £81 per head for Suffolk cross ewes from E G Jones and Son, Llanfair Hall. £80 per head for Suffolk cross ewes from Morgan and Berkley, Middle Pitts.

Mule ewes sold to £79.50 per head from D J P Lewis, Treforgan. Also to £77.50 per head for Mule ewes from A J and J A Powell, The Grove. £76 per head for Mule ewes from V, M and J Grubb, New House. £75.50 per head for Mule ewes from E G Jones and Son, Llanfair Hall.

Welsh ewes sold to £62.50 per head from T and C Dyke, Bailey Brith. Also to £58.50 per head for Welsh ewes from R A Jones, Pentwyn. £54 per head for Welsh ewes from S K Pugh, Llanddewi Hall. £51 per head for Welsh ewes from H N Hodnett and Son, Brookhouse and Speckled ewes from A T Ruell and Son, Trigriggan.

Cull rams averaged £93.23 per head and sold to £135 for a Texel ram from F Ruell and Son, Paytoe Hall. Also £128 for a Texel ram from C M Stephens and Partners, Cote. £125 per head for two Texel rams from F Ruell and Son, Paytoe Hall. £106 for a Texel ram form D J and J E Morris, Upper Dolwilkin.
