712 HOGGETS, 163 Cull Ewes: A better entry of hoggets sold to an excellent trade with an SQQ of 198.47p/kg topping at a fantastic 220p/kg for a pen of 41kg lambs from A.G Baker, Dunswater. Pen after pen in excess of 200p/kg especially for those good meated types. The demand for meat was clear to see and many more could have been sold on the trade. All types in demand but today it was our export firms driving the trade. Hoggs topped at £97/head for two separate pens of 51kg hoggs from D.P Eckley, Dderw and DP and PM Beavan, Plascelyn.
182 Cull Ewes and 12 Rams: An absolute flying trade, the ewes would be £10-15/head dearer than last week with an overall ewe average recorded at a serious £84/head up to £138/head for a pen of ewes from R.S Eckley and Son, Fforddfawr. Pen after pen in excess of £100/head. The rams were also serious averaging £97.08/head topping at £132.50 for rams from G. Powell and Son, Upper House. More ewes could have easily been sold on this excellent trade.
