BRIGHTWELLS are pleased to report a successful sale of store and breeding cattle at Hay on March 21.

The sale commenced with two consignments of cows and calves the first from Messrs Richards, Park Farm, Craswell selling Limousin cows with heifer calves to £1500 (twice) and again at £1400.

Messrs Hughes, Brynrhyd offered an excellent consignment of Limousin cross cows with charolais calves selling to £1620, £1600 and £1550 etc.

The store cattle section brought all the usual top quality consignments and were greeted with a ring full of purchasers with cattle being consigned to well over 20 destinations.

Top price steers went to Messrs Davies, Heoleinion at £1150 (515k) with Mr and Mrs Derek Hughes, Brynrhyd next at £1120 (500k) with Austin Williams, The Pant following at £110 (475k) majority of cattle on offer with 11 to 12 months old.

Jonathan Herdman, Lloynry sold steers to £1085 (520k 11months) and heifers to £835 (415k 12 months). Elwyn Lloyd and family, Trewern sold to £1055 (535k 20 months), with David Lloyd, Cefn to £1000 (530k 19months). Messrs Davies, Penrheol sold charolais steers at £970 (twice 12 months).

Highest price steers pence per kg went to Messrs Nicholls, Upper Pentre at 2.79p (285k £795), followed by Jonathan Herdman, Lloyney at 2.56 (390k £1000) with Messrs Richards, Abbey Farm selling at 242p (390k £945) and 240 (360k £865).
