A NATIONAL park on Herefordshire's Welsh border has welcomed visitors from mainland Europe.

Delegates from Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands visited the Brecon Beacons for two days of talks.

The visitors also stopped off at the area's tourist hot spots and talked about subjects including farm diversification, buying locally, food producers and national park tourism ambassadors.

“The last year has been particularly exciting for the Rural Alliances project and transnational visits likes these are a key event to gather tourism representatives from our partner Rural Alliances teams from across Europe to have a look at successful projects and place for the future," said Richard Tyler, sustainable tourism manager for the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority.

"These visits inspire innovations and provide the opportunity for European tourism delegates to network, strategise and walk away with new ideas and connections to build on the momentum of Rural Alliances - which is now becoming a huge economic drive for communities across Europe.”

The delegates stopped off at the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre and the Crickhowell Totally Locally scheme, among others.
