YOUNG farmers ensured the half term break was a fun one by holding a successful pantomime competition.

The Herefordshire Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs annual performing arts festival saw eight young farmers clubs competing for top prize at the Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School.

The event, sponsored by Brightwells, was held over four nights with the top three performing in the final.

Among the highlights of the week was pyrotechnics, an aerial hoop routine and a real Shetland pony on stage.

First to perform on finals night was Teme Valley with their production of The Only Way is Herefordshire, before Golden Valley performed A Dog Called Sue.

Finally on stage was Hereford with 'Phantomime' which saw the characters travel back in time to Ancient Egypt

The scores were close but the winners were Golden Valley, with Teme Valley runners-up

The top two teams will now represent Herefordshire at the Oakengates Theatre in Telford on Sunday, March 15 in the West Midlands regional competition.
