HEREFORDSHIRE is throwing its weight behind the first ever Royal Three Counties Show from tomorrow, with VIPs, exhibitors, competitors, and county businesses preparing to cross the border into Worcestershire for the three day spectacular at Malvern’s Three Counties Showground.
The Hereford Cattle Society, which has its own marquee at the show, has received good entries for this year’s competitions.
And promoting local food is key to the show with Herefordshire food and drink producers and chefs showcasing their specialities.
Live on stage in the regional cookery theatre is Matt Slocombe who runs the Crown Inn at Woolhope in Herefordshire, and works closely with local farms and producers in the county.
Matt, who used to run The Scrumpy House in Much Marcle, will be joining other local chefs to offer visitors cookery demonstrations using fresh, home-grown and locally sourced ingredients.
Complementing the theatre is the Artisan Food and Drink Market, and Herefordshire producers Kelsmor Dairy of Garway, Castle Farm Pork of Madley and Siddington Farm of Ledbury will all have stands.
Highlights of the first Royal Three Counties Show include a farming village, with national breed society shows, the Limousin Grand Prix, the Gloucester Old Spot centenary celebrations, the rare and minority breeds show, sheep shearing and the Rural Business Support Centre.
The show opens tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday. For more information, visit threecounties.co.uk, call 01684 584924.
