THE BRITISH Horse Society has received an overwhelming response from riders throughout the UK who want to help map “Britain on Horseback”, but it is still looking for more equestrians to lend a hand.
Anyone can be a mapping volunteer if they have just a little time to spend marking a route where they ride onto a map. This can be done on paper or by GPS.
Either way, the time given is invaluable to the BHS’s campaigns and research.
BHS GIS officer Ceri Watkins said: “This is vitally important. We need to get as many routes as possible mapped so that equestrians across the country can have ongoing access to safe riding and driving.
“This is a great opportunity to share information between equestrians and is also a chance to meet like-minded people in your area.”
To become a volunteer, or for further information, please contact Ceri Watkins on 01926 707812 or email emagin@bhs.org.uk.
