DRESSAGE riders Lucy Pincus, from Bartestree, and Karen Beddows, from Longtown, have qualified for the prestigious Petplan Equine Area Festivals Final at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, which will take place in April 2010.
After a great performance at Burrows Court Farm, Gloucestershire, both girls won their classes. Lucy riding Sheepcote Sandmartin won the Novice Rest Section A with a score of 72.24 and Karen riding Michael Angelo won the Novice Rest Section B with a score of 69.13.
There are 16 Petplan Equine Area Festivals running until November this year. Held at top dressage venues across the UK, these events give amateur riders the chance to compete in top class arenas and experience true championship conditions.
Any horse and rider combination that has achieved a minimum of two scores of 62 per cent or above for preliminary to elementary level or 60 per cent or above for medium to Prix St Georges level at any affiliated competition since January 1 can take part and bid for a place in the finals.
Finalists will compete at Hartpury for one of the six Petplan Equine Area Festival Final titles, which range from Preliminary to Prix St Georges.
Alison Andrew from Petplan Equine said: “This year is the 10th anniversary of the Petplan Equine Area Festivals and to celebrate we have created a ‘top tips’ video with dressage trainer Adam Kemp FBHS which is available to view online.
“The video is divided into six chapters and provides useful tips for gaining extra marks as well as improving riding.
“The festivals give grass roots riders the opportunity to perform in a championship setting and we hope they will find the video useful.”
