A horse-mad pair have been out and about on their ponies collecting money for charity. Rebecca Byard, aged 15 from The Lea, and Victoria Coterell, aged 14 from Upton Bishop, were out on their ponies on Saturday in the Lea and Bromsash areas near Ross, collecting money for Breast Cancer Care. Rebecca, on her pony Toby, and Victoria on board Tanza, managed to raise £90 during the day. Rebecca goes to John Kyrle School in Ross and her friend Victoria is a pupil at Newent Comm-unity School. The girls became involved in collecting for the charity after a neighbour and friend of Rebecca’s mother contracted the disease. Rebecca called upon singer-songwriter Max Wilson in Bromsash at the beginning of their hard working day and told him it was Breast Cancer Awareness month and that they intend to go collecting in Upton Bishop and Gorsley next. The girls’ imaginative pink pony display was all their own idea and they told Max Wilson that collecting the money was their own idea too. So watch out for the pink ponies in your area this weekend and give the girls what you can.
