TO celebrate the 151st birthday of Sir Edward Elgar, the Elgar Birthplace Museum is welcoming students from the Royal College of Music for a birthday recital. Jeanine Thorpe (violin) and Alison Rhind (piano) will perform a varied programme including the much loved Elgar Violin Sonata, alongside works by Bach, Saint-Saëns and Paganini.
Jeanine Thorpe has won the ‘Remember Enescu’ international violin competition and the Emily Anderson prize, and has been proclaimed ‘one of the most sought-after violinists of her generation’. Noted solo and concerto performances have taken place at venues such as St John’s Smith Square, The Barbican Hall, Cadogan Hall, The Royal Festival Hall and the Wigmore Hall. Most recently Jeanine appeared in the new BBC2 television series Classical Star, and is studying at the Royal College of Music with Mark Messenger.
Tickets for the concert on Monday, June 2, at 7.30pm are available from the Elgar Birthplace Museum, Crown East Lane, Lower Broadheath, Worcester.
