EVERYTHING under one roof – no, it’s not a supermarket, but a Herefordshire primary school.
Lessons are just part of the package at Ledbury Primary School, which has re-opened its doors as a fully extended school.
Its new status means the school now offers parental support, childcare and other services in the same building.
The scheme fits in with government guidelines, and offers youngsters the chance to enjoy sport, the arts and computers both during and after school hours.
Along with a thriving breakfast and after-school club, the school also has its own nursery, while another voluntary-run pre-school, Busy Bees, has opened up on site. Pre-school manager, Kassie Eldon, already has a full intake of 47 children.
“This shows there is a real need for parents and families to be able to access service in one location,” she said.
Julie Duckworth, headteacher, said the school was going from strength to strength and added that some services would move to the recently-opened Children’s Centre.
“The combination of Children’s Centre and school facilities means parents and families can come to one site for childcare, formal education, leisure and family support, which has to be good news for everyone,” she said.
